Adventure #4: Rock & Roll
Jul 24 – Aug 7 all-day

Our fourth Adventure kicks off Friday, July 24, and ends on Friday, August 7! A huge thank you to our sponsors for helping us make this Adventure possible!

Our 7-part Adventure series is designed to inspire you- getting you out of the house to explore new paths, to recruit new 2-Day Walkers, and to raise even more money to fight breast cancer in Georgia!

For our fourth Adventure, we are challenging you to:

Increase your daily steps to 8,000 steps/ show us your best imitation of the 2-Day Moto Crew! While you’re out getting your steps in, snap a selfie with your fitness tracker when you hit 8,000 steps and send it into Whitney at wjones@2daywalk.org for a chance to be featured on our Instagram page! Before you head out one day, throw on your wildest 2-Day outfit (think “Moto Crew”) and film a clip of you guys rocking out in the streets, just like they do at out intersections during the 2-Day Walk! Send videos to Whitney for another chance to be 2-Day Insta-famous!

Fundraising Goal- Ask friends and family to sponsor you $2 for every mile you walk or ride a bike! For this challenge, tap into your inner Bike Crew member and go for a ride! Not a bike person? No problem! Just share your daily mileage for this 2-week period with your friends and family, and let’s see just how many mammograms, counseling sessions, lymphedema garments, etc. we can fund during this Adventure!

Contest: “Walk for One” for a Chance to Win a 2 Night Stay at the Whistle Stop Inn in NC:

Have we got an AMAZING contest for you! $1200 is the approximate amount it takes our grantees to take a patient all the way through the breast cancer diagnostic process. If you “Walk for One” in 2020 and raise $1200 or more, you will be entered into a raffle to win a 2 night stay at a beautiful bed & breakfast in North Carolina! 2-Day Moto Crew members and proud B&B owners Gladys and Larry Pilarski have generously offered to donate a 2 night stay at the Whistle Stop Inn (a $308 value) for one lucky winner! Contest runs now through the end of our 2020 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Experience (Sunday, October 4th), so you have plenty of time to fundraise. Good luck!!

Inspiration Locations: Vickery Creek Trail & Providence Canyon State Park: For this Adventure, we have two new great options to get you out of the house and moving! First up: Vickery Creek Trail at Roswell Mill! According to Atlantatrails.com, you can “Hike the Vickery Creek trail network at Roswell Mill to two historic mills, a covered bridge, and a spillway waterfall in Atlanta’s Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.” This is a 4.7 mile roundtrip, moderate hike. Parking can be found at:
95 Mill Street
Roswell, GA, 30075

Looking for a bit more Adventure?! Check out Providence Canyon State Park! Known as “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon,” the park features over 10 miles of hiking trails of all levels of difficulty. We recommend checking out the 2.5 mile Canyon Loop Trail. This easy-moderate level trail take about two hours, but the park recommends planning for for more time to explore. Parking is $5. For more information about this trail, or other things to see and do at Providence Canyon State Park, click here.

Georgia 2-Day Walk Adventures move into the MoveSpring App for Adventure #5! This is the App we will be using for our final three Adventures this summer, as well as for the 2020 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Experience! Registered 2020 participants can click here to learn how to sign in to MoveSpring!

Activity Challenge: The Streak challenge pushes you to get at least 30 minutes of activity each day during Adventure #5 in MoveSpring. Try walking in the mornings or evenings when it’s a little cooler to get your steps in each day! Don’t forget to send in pics when you hit your goal to wjones@2daywalk.org!

Fundraising Challenge: Did you know that in 2019, grants from It’s The Journey served Georgians in 102 counties?! Isn’t it awesome to see how far your fundraising dollars can go? We’re challenging you to raise $1 for every county covered by ITJ grants during the next two weeks! Who can raise $102 to serve Georgians in need of breast health care?

Contest: MoveSpring offers lots of ways to get involved and participate with your fellow walkers. You’ll be able to compete on our leaderboard, try and meet the daily streak challenge, receive messages of support from our sponsors, and interact with your fellow walkers in the chat feature! The most engaged user on MoveSpring during Adventure #5 will get the opportunity to announce the countdown to Closing Ceremonies for the 2020 2-Day Walk Experience!

Adventure #7: Georgia on our Minds
Sep 7 – Sep 20 all-day

Adventure #7 kicks off on Monday, September 7! We’d like to give a huge shout out to Phoenix Crane for helping to make this Adventure possible- thank you! If you’re not already using the MoveSpring app, we encourage you to get enrolled now as this is the app we will be using for the 2020 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Experience! Registered 2020 participants can click here to learn how to sign in to MoveSpring!

Activity Challenge: We are challenging you to “walk across Georgia” with a partner- that’s 300 miles in 2 weeks! It’s a HUGE challenge, but divided between two determined people (about 10.7 mi/day each), we think you can do it!

Divide it up even further by tackling the challenge with your teammates. Don’t forget to send in pics to Whitney at wjones@2daywalk.org for a chance to be featured on our Instagram page!

Fundraising Challenge: We’re asking you to try and find one $20 donation per day leading up to the 2020 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Experience. For every 50 walkers who commit to raising $20/day between the start of this $20 challenge and the walk, we can fully fund one $20,000 grant in 2021!!

Don’t forget- good old fashioned emails and letters to friends requesting donations are proven to have the highest response rate, second only to an in-person ask. Need help with what to write? Contact Jon at jmcmurdo@2daywalk.org for ideas and a handy template!

2020 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Experience
Sep 21 @ 7:00 am – Oct 4 @ 1:00 pm

It’s The Journey invites you to sign up for the 2020 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Experience! This year, instead of 2 days, you’ll have 2 WEEKS to complete your 30 miles!

Beginning Monday, September 21st, you can start racking up your miles for the 2020 2-Day Experience on MoveSpring, our virtual walk platform! You’ll still be traveling 30 miles throughout Atlanta, and will still “see” some of our wonderful partners at B’Rest Stops (called “Milestones” in MoveSpring”) approximately every 2.5 miles! Each Milestone will unlock video or picture messages to help bring the 2-Day experience to you wherever you are!

MoveSpring works with tracking devices (like FitBit, Apple Watch, etc.) or even just your cell phone to track your steps/miles! You can compete on our mileage leaderboard, and we have some really great ideas on how to get support from your donors by incorporating MoveSpring features!

On Sunday, October 4th, we will head out together for our final mile, culminating in a Facebook Live Closing Ceremonies Experience at 12:00 pm, so that we can all celebrate together! More details TBA as we get closer!

Registration is only $35 (includes access to virtual platform, Victory t-shirt, credentials, and year button), and there are no minimum fundraising requirements for 2020! Sign up here!
