Adventure #6
Jul 12 – Jul 21 all-day

Adventure #6 is here! Join us July 12-21 as we stay active, motivated, and inspired for the 2021 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer! We’re once again using the MoveSpring app this year to train & stay connected as we get ready to “Do the 2.” In this app, you can connect your wearable device or smartphone to automatically track your activity, post training updates, and chat with friends!

All registered 2021 2-Day participants (walkers and crew) are invited to participate via our MoveSpring platform. Click here for instructions on how to sign in to MoveSpring.

Stick To It Challenge: Get In Sync!
Did you know we logged over 50,000 miles as a group in 2020? Start getting in the habit of syncing your devices with the MoveSpring app, and make sure all your miles count. Let’s see if we can hit 60,000 miles this year!

Target Fitness Goal: 5 or 10 Miles
This month we’ll work on hitting those distance goals! Our traditional July training walk distance is 5-10 miles, so we’re challenging you to work a 5 or 10 mile walk into this Adventure. Post a photo of yourself in MoveSpring, and you could be featured on the Georgia 2-Day Walk Facebook page!

Inspiration Location: Stone Mountain Park
There are several ways to get some miles in at the park:
1. Robert E. Lee Blvd, which circles the base of the mountain, is approximately 5 miles long.
2. The Walk-Up Trail is open daily from dawn to dusk, unless otherwise posted. Just follow the painted yellow line along the trail and enjoy the unique scenery and spectacular views along the way. Restrooms are located at the base of the trail. While on top, 1,686 feet above sea level, enjoy amazing views of downtown Atlanta, the North Georgia mountains and the surrounding area. On a haze-free day, you can see 60 miles from the mountain!
3. Choose one of the nature trails and explore the wooded areas.
Follow this link for maps of the park areas:

And don’t forget to join us at our July Training Walk in Stone Mountain on July 17 at 8:00 am! Click here to RSVP on Facebook. Don’t have Facebook? RSVP by emailing Ray at rroberts@2daywalk.org.

2021 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer
Oct 2 @ 7:00 am – Oct 3 @ 12:00 pm

The Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer is an annual fundraising endurance walk that takes place on October 2-3, 2021, and takes participants through 30 miles of Atlanta over the course of 2 days. Last year, nearly 1,000 walkers committed to fundraising and training for this event.

The Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer’s founder, Randi Passoff, began the 2-Day Walk in 2002 when the Avon 3-Day Walk faced financial difficulty and pulled out of Atlanta. Randi’s goal was to create a fundraising event where money raised stayed right in the communities of the participants. We call the 2-Day “the kinder and gentler breast cancer walk” because we strive to include passionate individuals at different levels of physical and fundraising ability- walkers can walk all 30 miles, or just choose to walk 10 miles on one day.

With the money from the walk, It’s The Journey, Inc. is able to fund grants that serve over 100 counties in Georgia. These programs provide mammograms, clinical breast exams, genetic counseling and testing, biopsies, support services, education, and much more. Many of our grants have a specific focus on under-served individuals in our community- uninsured and under-insured women for whom these types of breast health measures are often not available.

Since 2002, the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer has funded 431 grants totaling $16.5 million to support breast health programs throughout Georgia.
